CBD supplements have popped up everywhere in recent months. I knew that CBD had become a popular trend when I overheard a group of the stay-at-home Moms at my daughter’s school talking about it at drop-off. Whenever the Moms are discussing a topic, you know it’s a popular one… So, with all of the noise that’s out there in the marketplace, with all these companies marketing online and on social media – here’s the $64,000 question: How should you choose a CBD supplement?
Choosing the Right CBD Supplement
The first thing for you to ask yourself is, “Why do you want to take a CBD supplement?” Why you want to take CBD is just as an important thing to figure out as what type or brand you should take.
CBD for Pain Relief
Do you want to take it because you’re looking for pain relief? CBD for pain relief is one of the more common uses. When examining what you’re trying to alleviate, you’ll want to see if you have localized pain, or if it is throughout your body. If you’re experiencing localized pain, then you may be looking for a balm or a salve to help alleviate your aches. If you’re experiencing generalized pain, you may want to consider taking an oral tincture or a softgel.
CBD for Sleep and Anxiety
Many people have turned to cannabis for helping with their anxiety and to sleep better. They’ve become accustomed to either smoking or ingesting products infused with an indica strain of cannabis. The downside with taking a cannabis product is that you’re taking in THC, which causes a psychoactive effect. If you’re being drug tested, you’ll test positive.
Instead of taking an indica cannabis product, you can find a better alternative with a hemp oil supplement. You’ll be able to get the benefits of CBD for anxiety by taking an all-natural supplement without THC.
If you’re struggling with anxiety-related issues, you may want to consider taking a softgel, tincture, or other ingestible form of cannabidiol supplement. Each one of those forms of taking CBD will give you the calming, relaxing effect that you’re looking for from a CBD supplement.
Choosing a CBD Supplement Brand
Now that we’ve discussed the types of CBD that you should be looking for, it’s important to find what type of cannabidiol (CBD) you want to find. With so many brands available online and in stores, you want to find a reputable, honest brand that will actually give you what you’re purchasing.
Cannabis vs. Hemp Oil CBD
If you’re looking for a non-psychoactive supplement, be sure that you’re getting a hemp oil CBD brand, not a cannabis-based CBD supplement. Cannabis will give you a “high,” while hemp oil won’t. Be sure that you check to see how much THC is contained in each serving of whatever supplement you purchase.
Reputable brands will provide copies of their lab reports that show exactly what percentage of their supplement contains THC.
Next, you want to make sure that the process used to extract the CBD doesn’t damage the potency of cannabidiol available. You’ll want to make sure that the brand you purchase from repeatedly tests its supplements throughout the extraction process. When it’s extracted poorly, you’ll get a supplement that isn’t as potent as it should be.
Payment Options
There are a lot of options for paying for supplements online. Be sure that you can use your credit card, especially when buying from a retailer you’ve never done business with.
Do they have a mailing address listed? Is there a customer service department you can contact in case of an issue? Do you see an email address on their website?
These are all basics that a reputable company should have listed at a minimum.
Recommended Brands
We have a few brands that have been reviewed that we’re willing to recommend. The brands we recommend meet our minimum requirements, and are companies that we can endorse based upon our relationship with them.
In full disclosure, we may be paid a commission for any purchase made as a result of your clicking one of our referral links to their websites. This doesn’t influence our recommendations in any way, especially because we have brands contacting us on a daily basis asking for our endorsement.
We will only recommend brands that we know offer the highest quality, pure cannabidiol (CBD) supplements.
